External Relations: The President and Chief Executive Officer is the primary ambassador of the Chamber in the community. They are expected to represent the Chamber in local and regional business circles; to be informed about developments and trends in the business community in order to identify and suggest policies, issues, and strategic directions to the Board and staff; and to actively share the Chamber's knowledge and connections to benefit the membership’s business interests. The President and Chief Executive Officer is the chief spokesperson for the Chamber.
Strategic Goals and Initiatives: The President and Chief Executive Officer is responsible for recommending to the Board current and long-term strategies and goals. Working with the Board and the Chamber staff, the President and Chief Executive Officer prepares action plans and marshals resources to accomplish agreed-upon goals. The President and Chief Executive Officer provides leadership to the Board and staff in identifying and implementing initiatives that expand the Chamber’s capacity to serve its members. The President and Chief Executive Officer is expected to be a trusted and respected business leader throughout the region sought out by peers for knowledge and business acumen.
Member Services: The President and Chief Executive Officer – working with the Vice President of Membership Development – guides all membership development and service efforts including solicitation of new members, outreach to existing members, implementation of effective member retention strategies.
Development: The President and Chief Executive Officer plays an active role in ensuring the Chamber has sufficient resources to fulfill its mission including identification and solicitation of new Sustaining Sponsors and stewardship of existing Sustaining Sponsors. The President and Chief Executive Officer serves simultaneously as the President of the Princeton Regional Chamber Foundation.
Organizational Management: Working with the Vice President of Operations, the President and Chief Executive Officer provides guidance to support the day-to-day operations, including:
- Guiding Program Managing Directors to ensure prudent use of organizational resources, adherence to budgets, achievement of KPIs, and accountability to members and the Board.
- Supervision of the staff to ensure enthusiasm and capacity for service among them by ensuring appropriate compensation, availability of resources, identification of professional development opportunities, and performance evaluation.
Community and Government Affairs: The President and Chief Executive Officer maintains relationships with other community organizations and reviews and evaluates legislation, pending or proposed, which will have an impact on local business interests, and Chamber goals and policies.
Board Relations and Board Development: The President and Chief Executive Officer has primary responsibility for Board relations and Board development, including:
- Ensure timely implementation of Board policies and
- Identifying issues and strategies for
- Onboarding new Board members and continuing education of current board members as it relates to Chamber industry
- Primary liaison between the Board of Directors and the staff
Volunteer Management: The President and Chief Executive Officer supports and encourages Chamber volunteers in their efforts to design and promote Chamber programs and activities that are innovative and relevant to our regional business community. The President and Chief Executive Officer works with the Program Managing Directors to ensure each business committee of the Chamber is comprised of an engaged group of volunteers with the requisite experience and talents to further the mission of that committee.
